describe the imageOK, our subject is a bit harsh... There is a place for Flash websites, and if done correctly can have alternative content that displays correctly on mobile devices too. But, typically with the average client this is not recommended...

With the upcoming technologies such as Jquery, Javascript and HTML5 there is less of a reason to use flash website than there used to be in the pre-iPhone/smart phone days.

When we meet with a client to discus a website the first things we ask them is (1) who is your target market? and (2) what is your goal for the website? For the most part it's to get more business, and to be found online, nowadays the reality is that this will be from a Mobile Device some of the time (and that amount is growing each day)

Some Experts have said that by the year 2015 close to 80 percent of website traffic will be on mobile device. This number simply means, as a business owner or website owner, that you CANNOT ignore the viewers using such devices. In most cases, if you think about it, you'll find that many of your "ideal" clients will own an iPhone, iPad or mobile device of some kind. You want to make sure that your marketing efforts are viewable however the prospect wants to view your device.
I Met with 3 clients this week who have FLASH websites, One of them was appalled when I showed them their website on a tablet device. They had no idea that their website was not showing up at all when a prospective client was looking via an iPad or tablet. Mobile Viewable Websites, and Mobile Web Design for smartphones is becoming a major aspect of business today.

There's an article/study from Google about the Zero Moment of Truth, This really hit hard with us on how important it is to have a mobile -ready website. People are doing their homework and researching or even looking up phone numbers to call. If you were to have a Flash website, your prospect will simply hit the back button, go back to the search results and find your competition (who has a mobile ready site).

Here's the video on the Zero Moment of Truth, Let us know if you think Mobile Viewable websites play a factor in your online viewing. Would you simply pass a flash website by if you cannot see it?
