WHAT WE'RE READING
Google and Yahoo Hired a Digital Bouncer
You're going to see big changes in the coming months (I know - shocker). What we once thought of as just best practices in email marketing will now become mandatory from Google (Gmail) and Yahoo.
It's like they've hired new bouncers, and we just want to get into the party.
Starting in February 2024, Google and Yahoo will require senders to implement email authentication alongside other significant policy changes surrounding consent and engagement. Read more in this HubSpot Community thread.
Google’s Advice On Fixing 404 Errors From Inbound Links
Strategist Stephen shared this "bit of a hot take on 404s" recently. When is it useful to fix 404 errors from inbound links, and when is it a waste of time? The hot take: "The SEO ‘value’ of bringing a 404 back is probably less than the work you put into it.” That's from Google guru John Mueller himself. Interesting...
Commerce Hub, the bundle of commerce tools and payment processing capabilities in HubSpot, has been available to only US users for a long time. That's about to change. Jack Coopersmith, who manages Commerce Hub’s go-to-market and onboarding, will talk more about this at an upcoming HubSpot Super Admin HUG meetup. In the meantime, the international user base is rejoicing!
Eat the Frog: A Practical Approach to Reaching Your Goals
It's a bit of a weird saying, but it comes from an author who wrote a book about overcoming our penchant for procrastination. I'm going to read the book. I swear. In the meantime, this article from Zapier runs down the highlights.
Social scientist Genevieve Gregorich says learning how to win at the card game Bullshit helped her succeed in life. In both the card game and life, winning involves the same strategy. And, like any good strategy, it’s not what you expect.
In this TEDx talk, Genevieve admits to being a "gossip girl," a student who would bullshit her way through studies, and who fought against assumptions during her high school basketball career. It all led her to an epiphany during a DJ Diesel show (that's Shaq if you didn't know!).

New Research from CMI: Why Most Video Content Fails To Reach Its Full Potential
The more AI you see in the market, the more you know human connection matters. New research form Content Marketing Institute highlights video's ability to tell emotionally resonant stories that connect you to your audience.
Of course, it's not so simple though. The research also tells a more nuanced story. Sixty-seven percent of marketers say video has become more important to the business over the last year. Yet only 7% say they use it to its full potential. Curious? We were, too.
From GIFs to emojis to TikToks and beyond, we're always climbing Meme Mountain. 🤔 Whatever that means. 🤷 The point: We love our internet culture. Here's something from the team recently. What do you think about glimmers?
