When meeting with clients one of the first questions we ask is how is your website doing? This question usually comes with a puzzled look and gets typical responses such as. "It's fine" or "It's got room for improvement". This answer usually comes from business owners or prospects who are not familiar with the value a good website can have for their business.
The mindset that many business owners have about their website needs to change. Where years ago a website was a novelty, these days it's a requirement. Not only having a "good" website but also ensuring that your website is helping your business.
1 question to ask yourself:
Is my website Making Me Money or Costing me Money?
Sure you can get a "cheap" website to show up when people search for your name. But by Investing in a website you can also compete with your competition in search engines and generate leads. If your website is Generating Leads, then it is Making you Money. In order for this to happen there are 3 main things your website HAS TO HAVE.
- Have a good Core Website: Ensuring your website has an Search Engine Friendly structure, Has a blog connected, is connected to social media accounts, and depicts your brand and your products or services efficiently.
- Get More Traffic: Having a website for the sake of having a website isn't going to get you traffic (or leads). The easiest way to get traffic to your website is to create content (via your blog or other pages). Creating ORIGINAL content that interests your viewers will get them to come to your website and hopefully come back again and again. In order to do this you'll need a Keyword Strategy.
- Optimize Your Site to Get Leads (from the traffic): This is often the key point forgotten when building a website. Including a CTA (Call to Action) on your website or not directing the viewer to take action is one of the biggest things we see missing on websites.
