Email Clicks: Getting a 25% Increase
Cold is Relative
Hey again my friend!
It's a weird winter here in Michigan where I'm putting your newsletter together. It wasn't a "White Christmas." We got hit hard in January. Now it's February and all the snow has melted. It's not exactly relevant to growing your business, but it did get me thinking: in marketing and sales, we have to expect the unexpected.
So, whether you're testing the "from name" in your marketing emails, testing your sales sequences, or considering how to partner with influencers in your industry, I want to encourage you to go for it in 2024.
Because you never know when the next snowstorm is coming. Metaphorically speaking, of course. π
On with the show!
Reminder: Authenticate Your Marketing Email
It's time. If your marketing email isn't authenticated, you're going to experience issues reaching Google and Yahoo users. Enforcement begins February 1.
If you haven't seen the news, here's the deal according to Adobe.
In the world of email there are legal requirements, practical requirements, and general best practices. Google and Yahoo are taking best practices and turning them into practical requirements.
None of [these] ... are new, and have often been best practice recommendations for years, but adoption has been slow and uneven in the industry.
This is Google and Yahooβs way of helping progress that adoption process by saying βIf you want to deploy email to our users (this may represent a significant portion of your email list, in some cases as high as 70%, depending on region and industry) you need to do these things.β
Why Creators Should Disclose Sponsored Instagram Posts (+ How)
A find from our marketing coordinator HB, this resource gives great advice for anyone creating influencer-marketing style content in partnership with brands. The short story: Disclose when you're getting paid to talk about a product or service.
This article breaks down the legalities of paid content, who the FTC is, and how to properly disclose your sponsorships. It's great for both creators and businesses considering influencer marketing partnerships.
This share from Evan Hamilton at HubSpot (head of community) prompted him to ask if we're adding WhatsApp to our collective community strategy. It's probably a good idea to consider for that, general marketing and even sales strategies. (Requires a paid subscription.)
Is "Actions Speak Louder Than Words" an Irrelevant Cliche?
This post and image from LinkedIn (h/t Sara McNamara) got my attention as your newsletter editor.
I'd love to know your thoughts as our reader. What do you think about this idea of "getting loud" in order to "outperform" others?
Yes, we need to promote our brand, and even advocate for ourselves, but is more "loudness" really what we need? When did "actions speak louder than words" become irrelevant? Or am I missing the point? Hit reply and let's chat!
