I keep seeing this everywhere in titles when doing research: lowercase "with" for AP Title Case. I did some double checking and verified the truth, and nothing but the truth.
The myth that with should be lowercase is not correct. I repeat! This is not correct.
For AP Title Case, only prepositions three letters or fewer are not capitalized. Does this mean that we have to follow the rules for our clients who ask for AP? Yes!
However, we have had clients in the past who did not want "with" capitalized, so we would comply and add it to the style guide to make sure we were consistent.
The content team still uses this checker because it catches Title Case mix-ups better than poor Google Docs ever could. Of course, the checker isn't perfect, and the team (Cathy lol) did notice that it does capitalize the second part of hyphenated words when in fact it should only be capitalized if it is a proper noun.
This sparked a conversation among several folks, offering a secondary tool for Google Sheets because, "My Grammarly extension doesn't work on Google Sheets."
