Troubleshooting HubSpot Membership Access for a Contact

You've setup your portal, and now users are in. But here's the steps to troubleshoot a users access.

Troubleshooting Member Access in HubSpot Membership Groups

To troubleshoot member access for users in HubSpot membership groups, follow these steps:

  1. Search for the user's email address in the CRM to verify the correct contact.

  2. Check if the user should have access based on their deals or list memberships.

  3. Review the list memberships under "Manage" to ensure the user is in the right groups.

  4. Click on "Manage Registration" to resend registration or password reset emails. ** if this button doesn't exist, check that the user is in a membership group

  5. Verify the primary email and additional emails in the contact record.

  6. Check the "member email" property and check for the correct email address.

  7. Look for the "registered at" property to see if the user has set their password. If they have not, they've only received the registration email, they've not set their password. (required step)

  8. Update the member email if needed to ensure correct registration emails.

  9. Resend registration emails if necessary to grant access in "list management".

By following these steps, you can efficiently troubleshoot and resolve member access issues in HubSpot membership groups.

 

BONUS: Customize the contact record view to include key properties

Customize the contact record view to include key properties for easier troubleshooting. (Super Admin access required)

  1. Navigate to the default view and click on "Customize Record" in the top right corner.

  2. Click on "Add Card" and create a new card named "Membership Access Information".

  3. Add the following properties:

    • Member email

    • Registered at

    • Time registration email was sent

  4. Save the changes and exit.

  5. Return to the contact record to view the newly added membership access information properties.
