Then… the dust begins to settle… and we’re left wondering, “what’s next?” And we’re fighting off the fading feelings of getting ready to kick ass and take names.
That’s the life of an INBOUND attendee— and #INBOUND19 is no different.
One way to avoid conference fade is to dive into the books from great speakers at the event. This year the Impulse Creative team decided to put together a list of some of the books we plan to buy (and read!) to keep the learning and inspiration flowing long after the thrill of INBOUND is over.
Now that you have the list, how about we find out who wants to read what, and why?
Jenn: I really enjoyed Dan Gingiss’ talk. His book Winning at Social Customer Care: How Top Brands Create Engaging Experiences on Social Media is on my list. Also, I loved Elizabeth Gilbert’s spotlight that kicked off #INBOUND19. I’ll be getting her popular Eat Pray Love for sure.
Jackie: Elizabeth Gilbert was so inspiring Tuesday night and really set the tone for my #Inbound19 experience. I loved Eat Pray Love and I’m currently reading City of Girls. I’ve also had my eye on Daniel Pink’s When since seeing his spotlight.
Mark Roberge affirmed so many of my own thoughts on sales and sales leadership, but was an epic presenter and triggered some exciting insight on how to do things better. I will definitely be diving into The Sales Acceleration Formula: Using Data, Technology, and Inbound Selling to go from $0 to $100 Million to keep up on his teachings.
Finally, Anese Cavanaugh- a goddess in my mind who has the ability to transform the rooms energy with her IEP method and her presence! I first met her on our Maiden Voyage podcast, and read Contagious Culture, but I will absolutely be pre-ordering Contagious You, coming out in November.
George: I’m always inspired after INBOUND. Random conversations, fans of our brand, friends… it’s all so dope. One of those conversations brought up the book The Go-Giver from Bob Burg and John David Mann. Then I’m adding Dan Millman’s Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives to my bookshelf, as well as The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life from Alice Schroeder.
I always leave Boston fired up to learn, so I’ll be diving deep into my learning with these books!
Dan: Between meetings and conversations in the Westin lobby or the hallway, my sessions this year were a little limited. However, the presentations I did see, and a few I marked as wanting to see, left me with several books to put in my shopping cart.
I want to start with Geraldine DeRuiter. Her presentation had nothing to do with her book, but I love her style of storytelling. So I’ll be picking up All Over the Place. Another great session was Tony Chatman exploring our unconscious bias as humans. We all have them. He was fantastic, and now I want to read his book, The Force Multiplier.
Not a book, but I’ve signed up for Margo Aaron’s newsletter based on her session title “How to Write Newsletters People Actually Want to Read.”
Brian Williams was engaging, entertaining and educational. Brian talked about creating a marketing firm focused on sales. It’s something we talk about at Impulse Creative. But the way he framed it was pretty legit. I’ll be picking up The Ultimate Sales Messaging System to learn a little more from this dude.
As with any inspirational event, where you might be walking away wondering where you go next, we all agree that Simon Sinek’s Start with Why should be on your bookshelf— and more importantly, in your hands.
