When was the last time you took a test? If you're like me, it has probably been quite some time. Part of the training process at Impulse Creative is becoming Inbound and HubSpot certified.
This process involves lots of videos, slides, notes, and culminates with a test. Just the word test ups the anxiety level a couple notches, but with new knowledge comes great power.
In the words of Uncle Ben from Spider-Man, "With great power, comes great responsibility."
I'm not sure I feel as powerful as Spider Man since becoming Inbound Certified, but I definitely feel a sense of accomplishment. Yes, this new Impulse Creative team member passed the test!
In no way am I new to the world of Inbound Marketing. With over seven years of internet marketing experience I thought I knew it all. As I went through the HubSpot Inbound Certification process I quickly realized the in-depth strategies involved in the training. Was I going to pass the test? Did I really know my stuff? Was I going to look bad in front of my new team? All these terrifying thoughts washed through my grey matter as the last training video came to an end.
Notebook open, I sat down to take the 60 question, 90 minute test. I felt ready to attack, but there's always that feeling of uncertainty when it comes to taking a test.
The questions came and went as time ticked away. Some were easy while others tried to trip you up with vague phrases like "most", "some", and "primarily." With about ten minutes left and two sweaty palms, the last question was answered. Now came the results.
Honestly I was a little nervous. It had been 14 years since I took a real test. I stared at the "Get Results" button for a few seconds, took a deep breath and clicked.
The page refreshed and the results displayed on the screen. The new guy PASSED! I let out a little WOOHOO, but held back most of the excitement. I didn't want to seem overly excited, I wanted to convey an air of confidence and act like it was no big deal. It was something that was just suppose to happen. Inside I was jumping with joy, the WOOHOO was being screamed from the mountain tops.
High-fives were given and a feeling of pride filled me up. I felt like I belonged, I felt like part of the Impulse Creative team, I felt Inbound powerful.
Don't worry though, all this confidence and power won't go to my head. Because with great power, comes great responsibility.
Thank you Uncle Ben, this power will only be used for the good of our Impulse Creative clients...I promise.
