LAYER 02 · THE VOICE · POSITIONING

Positioning and Messaging.

What you actually do.

FIG. 01 · OVERVIEW

Most B2B teams say five different things about what their company does — and none of them match what the company actually does. We extract the real positioning from your operating reality, validate it with customers, and ship it as the voice every team uses.

FIG. 02 · WHERE IT LIVES

Positioning and Messaging is a Layer 02 service.

Every service we offer maps to one of four layers. Positioning and Messaging sits in the Voice — the layer that owns brand & omni-channel.

LAYER 01
The Surface
Websites & customer portals
Public interface — read by humans, agents, AEO crawlers.
LAYER 02
POSITIONING AND MESSAGING LIVES HERE
The Voice
Brand & omni-channel
Story rendered consistently in every format an LLM might cite.
LAYER 03
The Kernel
RevOps & HubSpot admin
Source of truth every agent calls first. Clean, opinionated, agent-ready.
LAYER 04
The Agents
AI consulting & co-pilots
Autonomous teammates running on the kernel.

Positioning extracted, not invented.

Most positioning exercises produce a sentence the leadership team likes and the rest of the company never uses. The reason is usually the same: the sentence wasn't extracted from the operating reality, it was invented around it.

We do the work the other way. Customer interviews, internal interviews, sales-call review, support-ticket review — extract the language that's already there. Validate it against the operating reality (does the company actually do this?). The sentence at the end is one the whole team can say because it's the one they were already saying, sharpened.

Brand Workshops touches the same territory — but a workshop is the meeting; positioning-and-messaging is the full extraction-and-validation engagement.

The process.

PHASE01

Discover · interview round

Customers. Prospects. Internal team. Recent wins, recent losses, churned accounts. By the first synthesis session we're testing a hypothesis, not fishing for one.

PHASE02

Expose · extract + validate

Cluster the patterns. Identify the language that's already working. Test the hypothesis against actual customers — not the leadership team.

PHASE03

Wire · positioning + messaging architecture

Single positioning statement. Per-persona messaging. Per-channel adaptations. Sales scripts, content angles, and one-line variants the team can deploy immediately.

PHASE04

Operate · roll out + revisit

Implementation calendar. Channel-by-channel rollout. Annual re-validation as the company evolves.

Positioning the whole team can say out loud.

OUT 01
A working positioning document
Validated by customers. Defended on operating grounds. Signed by the room.
OUT 02
Per-persona messaging
Talking points, objection handling, and pain language pulled straight from the interviews — extracted, not invented.
OUT 03
Per-channel adaptations
Web hero, sales deck, LinkedIn bio, sales scripts, email subject lines — all aligned.
OUT 04
A re-validation cadence
Annual interview cycle. Positioning stays sharp as the company evolves.

Things people ask before booking.

How is this different from Brand Workshops?

A workshop is one or two days. Positioning-and-messaging is the full engagement: pre-work, interviews, validation, document, rollout. The workshop is sometimes the meeting in the middle, but the work is bigger.

How is this different from Buyer Persona Development?

Persona development asks "who is the buyer?" Positioning asks "what are we to them?" Both run on the same interview foundation; the deliverables are complementary.

Do you do this for new launches or established companies?

Both. New launches need positioning to start from. Established companies usually need re-positioning because the market or product has shifted under them.

What does success look like at 90 days?

A quarter of Voice work gets you a voice system in production, content shipping on a fixed cadence, and one story told the same way on every channel an LLM might scrape. Brand consensus is measured at the start and re-measured at day 90, so the movement shows up on paper, not in vibes.
