LAYER 03 · THE KERNEL · SEO + AEO

Search Engine Optimization.

SEO that survives the LLM.

FIG. 01 · OVERVIEW

Traditional SEO still gets you found. AEO is what gets you cited. We run both as one program because the buyer's journey now starts in the LLM and ends in the click — the work has to serve both ends.

FIG. 02 · WHERE IT LIVES

Search Engine Optimization is a Layer 03 service.

Every service we offer maps to one of four layers. Search Engine Optimization sits in the Kernel — the layer that owns revops & hubspot admin.

LAYER 01
The Surface
Websites & customer portals
Public interface — read by humans, agents, AEO crawlers.
LAYER 02
The Voice
Brand & omni-channel
Story rendered consistently in every format an LLM might cite.
LAYER 03
SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION LIVES HERE
The Kernel
RevOps & HubSpot admin
Source of truth every agent calls first. Clean, opinionated, agent-ready.
LAYER 04
The Agents
AI consulting & co-pilots
Autonomous teammates running on the kernel.

A program for both readers.

Old SEO was about ranking. Modern SEO is about being citable when the agent answers the buyer's question. The technical fundamentals overlap (clean structure, fast pages, schema, links) but the success criteria split.

We run both as one program. The same architecture work that earns the rank also earns the citation. The same content that converts the click also gets summarized in the AI Overview. Two readers, one program.

Things people ask before booking.

Is SEO still relevant in 2026? What about AEO?

SEO is still relevant. It's also no longer enough on its own. Buyers research through ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini before they ever type a keyword into Google — by the time they reach your site, an AI engine has often already recommended you (or not). The right read is both, with AEO as the new floor: SEO earns the human researcher and the long-tail discoverer; AEO earns the AI-mediated buyer who's now in the majority of B2B purchase journeys. We do both, treated as connected disciplines, not competing ones.

The AEO hub — the 8% Rule and why SEO isn't dead

How is AEO different from traditional SEO?

AEO measures whether an LLM will cite you correctly when a buyer asks the question your page answers. SEO measures whether a search engine will rank you for that query. The first reads structure semantically; the second indexes signals algorithmically. The work overlaps; the success criteria don't.

What are your most important SEO techniques?

"Most important" depends on what your site currently has and lacks — the Diagnostic surfaces this. In priority order: technical foundations (crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, mobile-first, schema validity — if these break, nothing else works); schema and structured data, deliberately written, not auto-generated by a CMS plugin; information architecture and internal linking — topic clusters, hub-and-spoke structures, anchor text discipline; content that actually answers the question — specific, deep, structurally legible; named-author authority — E-E-A-T signals through real authors, increasingly important for AI citation too; and earned authority signals — real backlinks earned through real work. We don't deploy doorway pages, shadow domains, hidden text, cloaking, or any technique that violates Google's spam policies.

Do you follow Google's Search Essentials?

Yes. Every technical SEO recommendation we make is consistent with Google's Search Essentials and Webmaster guidelines. We don't deploy shadow domains, doorway pages, hidden links, or any of the practices Google specifically warns against on their "Do you need an SEO?" page. If you ask why we recommend something, we'll point you at the relevant Search Essentials documentation or Search Central post — we don't ask clients to take our word for it.

Can you guarantee a #1 ranking on Google?

No. Anyone who guarantees rankings is either lying or doing something that will eventually get your site penalized. Google itself says explicitly: if an SEO guarantees first-place rankings, find someone else. What we will guarantee: honest analysis, transparent execution, measurable improvement against your baseline, and recommendations consistent with Google's guidelines. The specific rankings depend on your starting position, your competition, your product, and how aggressively you execute.
